International Friendly Roundup: Ecuador Win Big; Colombia, Venezuela Victorious; Bore Draw Between Bolivia and Peru (Goals)
Ecuador were the big winners in the latest round of international friendlies, defeating Costa Rica 4-0 in Quito to follow their 5-2 win over Jamaica days earlier.
Christian Suarez, Jaime Ayovi (impressive throughout), Segundo Castillo and Christian Benitez got the goals for Reyaldo Rueda’s men, who have seemingly shaken off a poor Copa America and will begin of the World Cup qualification process buoyed by two excellent wins.
Colombia also came out of their two friendlies undefeated after winning 2-0 against Jamaica in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Teofilo Gutierrez followed up his double against Honduras with another against the Jamaicans. Jackson Martinez got the other goal.
Venezuela, after losing to Argentina in Calcutta, defeated Guinea 2-1 in Caracas with two penalties from Giancarlo Maldonado. Amazingly, Guinea’s goal also came from the penalty spot.
Finally, Bolivia and Peru played out a turgid 0-0 draw in La Paz.
