In Action: Universitario Starlet Andy Polo

Andy Polo of Universitario - Potential Arsenal Signee

The name of Universitario’s promising young forward Andy Polo was first introduced to a worldwide audience in August this year when a Sky Sports report linked him with a move to English club Arsenal. Since then he has gone on to be linked with numerous European clubs with the Bundesliga now appearing to be his most likely destination.

I’ve watched Polo play on numerous occasions this season and have recently written about him for Sabotage Times. You can also read 10 Things You Need to Know About Potential Arsenal Signing Andy Polo on this very site, but some video footage is always helpful to convey things about a player that can be difficult to put across satisfactorily in writing. So sit back and enjoy some of Andy Polo’s best.

We’ll start off with a fairly standard goal compilation, including a couple of goals for Peru at U-17 level, his first goal for Universitario and some superbly accurate finishing in the U-20 Copa Libertadores

His goal in the U-20 Copa Libertadores against Wilstermann, included in the above video, but well worth another watch for the sheer sweetness of the low strike across the goalkeeper

Next up is his superb long range strike against CNI

Some persistence against a covering defender pays dividends for Polo as he wins possession high up the field and then crosses for Raul Riudiaz to finish in a 1-1 draw away to Argentina’s Godoy Cruz in the Copa Sudamericana

And finally some looping header action for the vital equaliser in the second leg of their tie with Godoy Cruz. Universitario went on to progress to the quarter finals on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate draw.
